Guidelines for Events in the Swarthmore Town Center
If your organization is planning a community event in the Swarthmore town center or an event that will require use of Borough materials or facilities, the following information may help make that planning a smoother process and the event more successful.
Scheduling Your Event
To avoid conflicts with other events, it is very important that organizations first check the Swarthmore Town Center calendar (www.swarthmoretowncenter.com) for upcoming community events and the Swarthmore Borough calendar (www.swarthmorepa.org) for upcoming official Borough meetings.
Posters or Notices for Display in Swarthmore Town Center Information Kiosks
For information about the display of promotional material in town information kiosks, please contact Swarthmore Town Center Coordinator Marty Spiegel (firstname.lastname@example.org) four weeks prior to the event. Display of posters and notices is limited to nonprofits and other community organizations.
Use of Borough Hall
Organizations that wish to use Borough Hall for an event must contact the Borough administrative office to reserve the space. Use of Borough Hall is generally restricted to nonprofits and community organizations. Food is generally not permitted without prior approval. To reserve space in Borough Hall, send an email request to Elise O'Rourke at email@example.com. For additional information, call the Borough office at 610-543-4599 during normal business houses (8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday).
Borough Hall Location and Hours
Borough Hall is located at 121 Park Avenue. Borough Hall is open during the following hours:
Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am-9:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am-9:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am-5:00 pm (10:00 am-2:00 pm in July and August)
Sunday: 1:00 pm-5:00 pm (closed July and August)
Public restrooms are located in Borough Hall. If the event is planned for a time outside of the regular building hours (see above), contact Diane Scott at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-543-4599 to ensure the doors to the building will be open to give event participants access to the restrooms.
If it is necessary to block off any public street or parking spaces for an event, prior Borough approval is required. Contact Diane Scott at email@example.com or 610-543-4599 to request approval.
The Borough does not provide tables or chairs for events.
Trash Disposal and Event Clean Up
Organizations are responsible for bagging their own trash and leaving the building clean after the event. Extra trash and recycling receptacles can be provided. Contact Diane at Borough Hall (610-543-4599).
Police Assistance During an Event
If your event will require traffic control or other police assistance, please contact the Swarthmore Police Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-543-0123.
Information About Town Center Shops, Restaurants, and Organizations
If you need printed information about the Town Center, its restaurants, shops, and community organizations to distribute to out-of-town event participants, please contact Swarthmore Town Center Coordinator Marty Spiegel (email@example.com).
